Essence of Life
Water is the essence, and source of all life. We all require a fresh, clean water to shower, bathe, clean, cook and drink.
Once water has served its use, the resulting byproduct is grey or black water. The dirty water needs to then be disposed or recycled safely into your home or businesses’ plumbing. From there it is bound to the wastewater treatment system, where it can be filtered and treated.
As long as the water flows freely and unhindered in your home or place of business, life can cycle happily. When something goes wrong, breaks down in the system, life and comfort as you know it comes to a halt.
We all know the embarrassment of a clogged toilet. The hassle of a leaking faucet or low water pressure. The dread of a broken water heater or rancid smelling or discolored fluids coming out of the sink. Never mind the anxiety from malfunctioning sprinklers. Depending on the age of your home, pipes, materials and other factors, you may be at an unnecessary high risk.
Most people don’t call the plumber until it’s too late and something needs to be fixed right away. When something is wrong with the plumbing, things can quickly spiral out of control.
Old Pipes
Colorado residents typically depend on service lines for fresh treated water. Many of these system lines are decades old, and pose certain water quality and health risks. According to Denver Water, tap water systems in homes built before 1951 may contain lead. However, even newer homes’ plumbing systems may contain this deadly element. According to the EPA, plumbing systems in homes built before 1986 have a chance of containing lead. Even newer, “lead-free” pipes could contain up to 8% lead.
But lead is not the only issue with old pipes. All metal corrodes over time – especially when exposed to water. Pipes, seals, faucets and other plumbing apparatus all deteriorate. When something in the system goes wrong, things can get messy and expensive.
